Street talk is that another layer of government bureaucracy will be added to Dare County when the "total bag ban" takes effect on October 1, 2010. Insiders say that Senator Marc Basnight has found state funding to set up border patrol stations at Hatteras Inlet, and on the west sides of the Wright Memorial and Washington Baum Bridge. Border Bag Patrol (BBP) headquarters will be established at the Justice Center in Manteo, and is expected to provide about 100 new jobs for the area. "We'll be hiring all Hispanic labor, " said Basnight. "They know all the tricks. We must keep these bags off the Outer Banks."======================================================================

EOD isn't seeking credibility. He's only offering his opinion and facts as he sees them. Other views may differ. Opposing opinions are welcomed (most of the time).

Anon is really searching when he thinks this post borders on "racist". I have been taken aback that Manteo does not have to participate in the "no plastic bags" law. They don't even give you credit for bringing in your own bags !
I live in Nags Head but voluntarily shop in Manteo to (a)NOT spend a dine at Food Lion, and (b)to get away from the tourists. I like getting the plastic bags because frankly they can occasionally be very useful around the house and hold more than a bread bag does.
What peeves me off about shopping in Manteo is that Star Value is no longer giving us the "Smart Shopper" savings stamps. That sucks! They really helped lower the grocery bill little by little when something I needed was being offered on special.
Ray...I think you are spot on. Never apologize or backdown. I find your humor pretty funny, but right on the mark too. I'm so sick of people being "offended". Get over it. Our strong America has become a bunch of bleeding heart pansies. Sorry....really off topic :)
