Grump, Humbug

EOD notes in today's issue of the Coastland Crimes that the Kitty Hawk Planning Board has cancelled its monthly meeting, scheduled for March 17th, "due to a lack of items to review".  The next scheduled meeting is set for April 14th.

This announcement begs for a big "HumBug" and "Poke" from EyeonDare. To wit: if that planning board had spent more time "reviewing" the site plan and seeking more answers from the applicants who want to open a farmers/flea market at the old Foreman's Lumber site in Kitty Hawk, all parties involved would have been better served.

The more EOD learns about this matter, the better he sees that the town's planning board should never have dumped it into the laps of the town council. It appears that many of the questions being asked by the council today, should have been addressed and resolved before any affirmative vote was given by the planning board. Simply put, the town council shouldn't have to wear both hats.

And, speaking of the Crimes, the newspaper gave EOD shell shock again today, by placing, not one, but two large photos of our beloved school administrators on the front page, once more, stealing the scene from area school students. It has gotten to be more than EOD can bear. Can someone please tell our school administrators that we are not interested in seeing their "pusses" in the newspaper three times a week, often on multiple pages. Honor the school children if you want, but, for goodness sakes, stay out of the photos, please,....pretty please. (Likewise to Friends of Youth..most folks in the county don't know what the organization does anyway...other than its a part of the county's budget...again, FOY...stay out of the photos, please...please?)

Grump, humbug...

FOY is a mentoring program for at-risk youth in the community. To have the picture released to the press a "media form" must be signed by the parent or guardian.

Unlike the schools, where every parent signs such form!
