| Oceanfront behind the Surf Side Motel in Nags Head. The sand pumped on the beach thus far appears to be a perfect match for the beach, and the project appears to be progressing nicely. |

Hell No - We Won't Go
These beach goers might be muttering under their breathes, "Hell no, We won't Go", but "Go" they will by this time tomorrow. The beach nourishment project, which began on an already wide stretch of beach behind the Surf Side Motel last week has advanced northward a few thousand feet and is approaching the beach access/bathhouse next to the Windjammer Condominiums. The beach there is less than 75 feet wide, and progress with the dredging will, no doubt, slow down considerably as sand is pumped into that area.

or they might be muttering " we are definitely returning to nags head next year as they will have the nicest, widest and best beach on the obx."
Anon......or Bob O......sure hope you are right. But as we both know, while the beach loss has been measured in average feet per year.....the loss has been dominated in recent times by nor'easters that lasted several high tides......like the Halloween and Veteran's Day storms. Half of that sand could be gone in one event and we all know it.......and if we get lucky and avoid such storms.....it could last decades. It is, and always has been, a gamble......that the voters of Nags Head NEVER authorized.
