In North Carolina, employees are "at will." At-will employees may be terminated for any reason, so long as it is not illegal.

The Town Manager needs to tell the Chief and Asst Town Manager to seek employment elsewhere.

Once this has been completed, the BOC needs to tell the Town Manager to also seek employment somewhere else.

You need to look at Judge Tillett in this case, this isn't the first time he has had a run in with the Law over his kids!

How about everyone stop focusing on Tillet and actually look at the complaints by the officers. Should be pretty easy to look at the complaints, do an investigation or have the courts rule on it, and then move on. The chief goes or the officers walk away with their tails between their legs. Regardless of what Tillet's beef is with the town, he did not ask these officers to fabricate false accusations in order to push a personal vendetta.

First of all there was an investigation by an outside panel and the officers complaints were found to be baseless. Second of all it sounds like Tillet may have played a big part in all of this. Who knows what conversations there have been between all the parties involved. Seems like the focus needs to stay on everyone until the smoke clears completely.
