According to a Face Book page set up on behalf of Alfred Lee Jackson of Manteo, NC there will be at least one Democratic candidate for the county commissioner District I seat this year. Filing for the May primary begins on February 13th. The District I seat, representing Roanoke Island and Dare mainland, is currently held by Richard Johnson (R) of Manteo, NC.
In addition to Jackson, two other candidates have publicly announced their interest in the seat. Sandy Semans, an Independent from Stumpy Point, is seeking signatures to have her name placed on the November ballot, while Francis D'Ambra (R) of Manteo has set up a campaign website and Face Book page promoting his candidacy.

If Richard Johnson runs- plus these 3 candidates - Ifear a split vote wil put him back in. Sure hope not!
Bill: If Johnson runs again, he'll have to compete with D'ambra and any other Republican candidates on the May primary ballot, which determines which one of them will be on the November general election ballot.
Same goes for any Democrat who runs for the seat, which is why they're all declaring their candidacies this early.
Richard, Is the primary date already scheduled? This may get interesting!!!
