Contrary to a news story in the Outer Banks Voice today, "Unaffiliated Voters" can vote in the May 8th Primary. They simply must tell the election officials when they go to the polls which ballot they want to use, Democrat or Republican.
The error by the Voice is a common misconception about voting rights in North Carolina.
Please remember to vote on or before May 8th. Your vote does count.

EOD notices that the Voice has discreetly corrected their error about voting...but failed to inform readers they made a mistake.
Ahhh, heck...it's not the first time they've done that. A new form of Internet journalism?
EOD,
You might note that Unaffiliated voters can chose either the Democratic or Republican ballot. Additionally there is an unaffiliated ballot that has the Board of Education and Amendment One (boo). Copies of all ballots can be find on the Dare Board of Elections Website
Ray -- That was my editing mistake, not Sam's. Discreetly corrected? At least I correct our errors when I am made aware of them.
Rob,
How would a reader know you corrected an error if you don't print a correction? Do you think readers go back and read your stories for a second time to see what has been changed? Well, maybe they do...since the Voice has made that a habit.
Finally, if you are implying that EOD makes errors and doesn't correct them..swing away.
By the way, Rob, your and Russ's comments are welcomed on this blog anytime. No need to sign annonymously.
