The beach and the ocean are my spiritual center. However, this VOICE editorial/article (can't tell) looks like an advertising clothed in public service announcement kind of thing to me. Anon on this one because I wouldn't want it to look like I'm whacking a fellow reeltor.
looking past the advertising side of the story its a very good idea. however this area isn't ready for this type of thinking. people are still tossing old lawn mowers into the canal when they don't work, killing snakes because they don't like them, and leaving trash where ever they go (follow a garbage truck one day and see how much trash flys out). Drive to Wanchese or Stumpy Point and look at the side of the road, you can't go more then 100 feet without seeing more trash. Maybe in a few years when the older generations are gone will this area have the mindset like in the article.
The Outer Banks Voice is not real journalism. If you object to any viewpoint and post a reasonable (and rational) reply, the owners of the site will refuse to post your comment. It has a very left-leaning directional outlook and gives the false impression that we all here on the Outer Banks feel similar about the varied topics. It is unfortunate that The Outer Banks Voice attempts to directs mass thought through their filtered comment boards.
